Moses Mabhida to host MTN8 final

JOBURG - Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban has been named as the venue for the MTN8 final on 28 September.

The Premier Soccer League has revealed that Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium will host the MTN8 final on 28 September at 8.15pm.

The league’s CEO, Brand de Villiers said a number of venues were considered for this year’s final. “We engaged a number of role players before we could take our decision to take the MTN8 final to Moses Mabhida. Durban has been good to us in the last few finals we have taken there.

“Our last final at the Moses Mabhida was sold out with few days to go to the match and we are hoping to replicate that. I would like to thank other cities that also showed interest in hosting the Wafa-Wafa final.”

De Villiers said it was important for the league to announce the final venue early, to enable people to prepare their travel logistics to Durban. He said tickets for the final would go on sale in the next few days.

“We will not know the two teams that will play in the final until 24 September, but we cannot wait that long before we print tickets. Tickets for the final will go on sale before the semis are played. This will create excitement among the fans.”

The MTN8 second leg semi-finals will be played on 24 September. Bidvest Wits will play Platinum Stars and Orlando Pirates will take on Kaizer Chiefs.
