Croesus takes its Raycon case to Safa DC

The dispute between Croesus Ladies and FC Raycon Ladies over the alleged fielding of ineligible players will be heard by the Safa DC tomorrow, July 24.

The disputed outcome of a Gauteng Sasol Women’s League match between FC Raycon Ladies and Croesus Ladies, played on July 14 at the Alexandra Stadium, will be heard before a Safa Disciplinary Committee (DC) tomorrow, July 24, at Safa House in Nasrec.

This was confirmed in correspondence from the football mother body, Safa, to the complainant, Croesus Ladies, which read that the DC would sit at Safa House at 15:00 to hear the complaint from Croesus Ladies, a team which its followers avidly refer to as the Greek Queens.

The complaint has opened a can of worms as Raycon is now accused of fielding ineligible players, not just in the match in question, but others as well, such as a Raycon versus Zebra Force match on April 14, and the first round league match with Croesus on May 11.

The players in question are Loretah Ncube, Lizneth Nkomo, and Dinah Banda, whom Croesus claims are illegitimately registered, used in various matches this season, and also named in various matchday squads.

Ncube is said to be a Zimbabwean immigrant without a valid work permit. This was discovered on July 14 as she was about to be fielded as a substitute in the Croesus–Raycon drawn match, which marked the end of the season for the league.

Raycon, which is a Stream B team along with Croesus, just needed a minimum of a draw to advance to the Gauteng play-offs with Mita Ladies of Stream A, the winner of which would then proceed to the national play-offs to decide the side that will be promoted to the top tier league of women’s football, the Hollywoodbets Super League.

Banda is another Zimbabwean player who still plays professional football for Queen Lozikeyi Academy, and is said to have played for her country’s national team at the 2020 Cosafa Women’s Championships. She played in the Raycon–Zebra Force match on April 14.

The Greek Queens have called for the suspension of the Gauteng play-offs until such time as the matter has been heard and settled by the DC.
