Are the Buccaneers in for a slaughter?

The much-talked-about Nedbank Cup quarterfinal clash between Dondol Stars and Orlando Pirates has divided football pundits, with many saying it's anyone's game.

It remains to be seen whether the ABC Motsepe League side Dondol Stars can make it a hat-trick when the Mamelodi-based outfit clashes with Orlando Pirates at the Nedbank Cup at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on April 15.

The two sides will lock horns in the quarterfinals of one of the richest cup competitions in the DStv Premiership. The Dondol-Pirates clash comes hot on the heels of two ‘Goliath’-slaying acts by the side that is co-coached by the high-riding duo of coaching stars Vincent ‘Young Master’ Rammoni and Khuliso Rashamuse.

Dondol, which is considered as the only ‘David’ still left standing in this cup competition, slaughtered the likes of four-time champions SuperSport United and one-time finalist AmaZulu FC.

Speaking to Alex News ahead of the clash, Young Master was brimming with confidence and declared ‘the elimination work was still a possibility even with the much-decorated Orlando Pirates, who are the first Caf Champions League winners from Mzansi back in 1995.

“Although we are not under pressure to do so, as we are still way younger than them as they are a big powerhouse. Our job is to go there and make our mark and share with the nation our God-given talent.

“We can still perform a hattrick and we are going to strive for it. We will give it our all, as we did in the first two encounters in this competition. If the Gods are on our side, we may come out unbruised and march to the semis,” said Rammoni.

Rammoni said his players were looking forward to the fixture. “But they know the responsibility at hand and the preparations are going well. Everybody is pulling their weight as well now to try and impress so they can be included in the team for that particular clash.”
