Boardroom to decide winner of GladAfrica Championship

JOBURG – Polokwane City-Sekhukhune United dispute delays the crowning of the champions of the GladAfrica Championship.

The Premier Soccer League was unable to include the nominees and winners of the Referee and Assistant Referee of the Season as the South African Football Association (Safa) had not concluded its process.

“Safa was unfortunately not able to provide the Premier Soccer League with the nominees and winners in the Referee and Assistant Referee categories on time. Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, the PSL awards event had to be pre-recorded for the 6 June broadcast,” a statement from the PSL said.

However, the PSL said arrangements will be made to record and broadcast this aspect of the awards and the outstanding awards in respect of the delayed GladAfrica final standings. “The awards will be done on a later date in a manner that accords proper respect to the nominees and winners as soon as we are able to,” the statement said.

The crowning of the winners of the GladAfrica Championship has been delayed as it has to be decided on the boardroom following issues on a match that involves Polokwane City and Sekhukhune United, which impacts on the winners of the championship, Real AM.

No date has been set for the resolution of the Polokwane City-Sekhukhune United dispute.
