Woman leaves children in the car unattended

Anonymous writes:

AS I write this letter I am still shocked by what I witnessed at a shopping centre on 2 July.

A well-dressed woman left her two children in the car alone as she rushed to an ATM 300m away. Shoppers were shocked to hear the two children, a toddler and a baby, crying inside the car, left all alone with one of the car windows open halfway. Two security guards said the woman had said she was rushing to withdraw money. What all passersby found shocking was that if anyone stole her car, it would be with the children inside. Or worse, she takes a long time and they die of heat stroke.

I am a parent and would never leave two children alone in the car, but would take them along with me. If this woman knew that she had a busy schedule, she should have hired someone to stay home with her children while she ran her errands. It is unacceptable that an adult would subject young children to that. The kids cried probably because they were left alone.

One customer was so upset she went in search of the woman, and the mother returned to the car looking not in the least embarrassed for being irresponsible with her children. Why have children when you cannot make responsible decisions for them?

People who neglect children and leave them unattended should be reported to the police. Imagine how often she leaves them alone and for how long. Shocking.
