Alex matrics in Primestars programme shine bright

Primestars MD Martin Sweet is a happy man as matric results demonstrate consistent improvements for learners in the eduCate programme.

Primestars’ EduCate Matric Maths and Science Revision Programme has again yielded good results as it continues to nurture and promote academic excellence from underprivileged schools countrywide.

Two of the many top schools in the programme countrywide are Sandtonview High School and the Leap Maths and Science School in Linbro Park. Both schools have a majority enrolment of learners from Alexandra.
Sandtonview produced three outstanding matrics for the Class of 2023, who were part of the eduCate programme, one of them being Khanya Selani (18) who obtained a bachelor’s degree pass and looks forward to studying towards a Bachelor of Diagnostic Radiography degree in the health science faculty once she enrolls at university. She obtained 57% in mathematics and 65% in physical sciences.

Another matric from Sandtonview is Angel Mabunda (17) who obtained a bachelor’s degree pass and will be going to the University of the Free State for a mathematical science degree. She obtained 66% in mathematics and 66% in physical science.
Amogelanf Morena (18) also got a bachelor’s degree pass and still hopes for enrolment at university to study towards a Bachelor of Computer Science degree. She obtained 68% in mathematics and 75% in physical sciences.

The Leap School’s Annet Ncube bagged 4 distinctions in accounting, English, life orientation and life science. She did not mention whether she has enrolled for university nor did she mention her preferred degree.

Primestars, in its preliminary annual impact reports, said the eduCate programme had demonstrated consistent increases in the results of participating learners, with the Class of 2023 achieving average increases in their marks of 12.1% and 9.7% for mathematics and science respectively.

This data is collated by comparing the final matric results of participating learners to that of their Grade 11 year-end, matric mid-year, and preparatory examination marks, Primestars MD Martin Sweet said.
