Attendees engaged in various exercises while learning about the significance of regular physical activity and the importance of early detection of various cancers including breast, cervical, prostate and throat.

Sbosh Body Core founder Sbongile Tshabalala said her goal for this event was to inspire people to take charge of their health through regular exercise. “These exercises include other activities like jogging, walking, yoga, aerobics, cycling, horse riding, and hiking,” Tshabalala said.

Tshabalala said she began dancing Latin American and ballroom with her sister in Diepkloof and that was when her passion for physical fitness began.

“It was a dance that ignited my passion for physical fitness, which blossomed into a lifelong journey in sports,” she said, reflecting on her inspiring journey from humble beginnings to becoming a dedicated advocate for health and wellness.

“Our early days at the Kgodisong Youth Centre in Bryanston laid the foundation for our love of arts and sports. Since then, I’ve participated in numerous races including the Spar, Colgate, Thembisa Miles, and the Soweto Marathon.”

Through events like this, Tshabalala continues to champion daily exercise as a means to combat chronic illnesses such as high blood pressure, diabetes and obesity.

“My retirement will come when God says so, as long as I can spread the message of health, I will keep going.

“I would like to thank councillor Tefo Raphadu, instructors Reuben Mashai, Rodger Ndlovu, Lehlonolo Choshi and the owner of Pat’s Place for providing the venue and ensuring attendees stayed hydrated throughout the event.”.

Tshabalala said they have another upcoming event scheduled for December, with the date still to be confirmed.

“Together, we can create a healthier, more informed community. Let’s continue to exercise, stay active, and support one another on this journey.”
