Another sentencing attempt for Thando’s murderer comes up

The never-ending sentencing saga of Thando Khumalo’s murderer, Peter Mphulo Magolego, is coming up again on October 7 at the Alexandra Regional Court.

The Alexandra Regional Court is expected to sentence convicted murderer Peter Mphulo Magolego on October 7 for the murder of the 20-year-old schoolboy, Thando Khumalo, at point-blank range after a chase following a road rage incident in August 2022.

The social worker for Magolego finally handed in her report, despite her confirmation that it was ready during the previous postponement. She only handed it to the court on the morning of September 19, prompting yet another delay in the never-ending sentencing saga that has seen nearly a dozen postponements since April.

As the document had to be studied by the court, the case had to be postponed and all parties agreed on October 7 as the most appropriate date for the sentencing of Magolego, who is currently in custody and facing two more murder charges, one in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court, and the other in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court.
