Loyo Stars trounces a lacklustre Socca Dream

A goal in each half sealed the win for the enterprising Loyo Stars as it beat a lacklustre Socca Dream outfit.

Alexandra Northrand Local Football Association Promotional League contender Loyo Stars trounces a lacklustre Socca Dream side 2-0 at the Altrek Sports Facility on April 27.

Loyo took on the Socca Dream match like a fire engulfing a house and quickly scribbled its name on the scoreboard in less than 10 minutes of play through the boot of hardworking but somewhat wasteful Kagiyo Mbesuma.

Loyo’s midfield maestro Mnikelo Kraqa and skipper of the side, was an outstanding figure in the middle of the park who put his leadership skills to masterful use with constant instructions to his troops as he marshalled them for the ninety-minute battle.

Kraqa’s splendid command of the middle of the park and his troops coupled with a halftime pep talk from coach Raymond Khuzwayo, paid off as the team’s leading goal scorer Mbesuma turned himself into a nuisance as he constantly tormented the Socca Dream defenders with his skilful runs into the box.

Although he failed to register more goals in his name, the lanky striker caused panic each time he had the ball on his feet as he had a couple of near misses that could have easily earned him a brace, hattrick or even quadruple goals.

Socca Dream was not sheep to the slaughter though as the outfit also tested the Loyo keeper Andile Kaunda numerous times but could not find the back of the net.

Other Loyo players had their share of misses before Jacob Adutmum scored a brilliant header of an insurance goal for his side, which sealed the 2-0 win for them.
