Alex female rugby coach rides the crest of a wave

Alex Wolves Rugby Club players wish the Springboks well in their endeavour to defend the World Rugby Cup in France, saying 'just two more hurdles and you are home and dry boys'.

The rugby coach for the Alex Wolves Rugby Club’s U12 boys and U18 girls teams is riding the crest of a wave with her coaching skills.

This follows Sarah Skhosana’s recent selection to coach the Gauteng squad for the recent Inter-Provincial Rugby Tournament that was held at Jeppe Boys High School and was later chosen as team manager for the Golden Lions Invitational.

At the Lions invitational, Skhosana impacted not just the players but also interacted with the parents and shared a lot of information about the children’s rugby career development requirements and the role that parents can also play.

“Since that tournament, I have been inundated with calls from various parents thanking me for the way I interacted with them and the information shared both with them and their children during the tournament which took place from October 3-5,” Skhosana said.

A couple of days later, Skhosana received a call from the organisers of the OR Tambo Soncini Social Cohesion Games offering her a team manager’s position for the upcoming games that will take place on October 28 and 29 at the Bill Jardine Stadium in Riverlea.

“I am so excited by this sudden uptake on my coaching career which also speaks well to our rugby development initiatives in the township and our Alex Wolves Rugby Club with the able guidance of the Golden Lions Rugby Union.

“I will forever cherish this recognition and opportunity which is due to the teamwork at Alex Wolves. I would not have been at this juncture in time if it was not for the club and the other coaches as well, including our development children, both boys, and girls,” Skhosana concluded.

Meanwhile, Alex rugby players, both boys and girls, have wished the Springboks good luck in their upcoming games in the semi-finals and probably the final if they qualify as they endeavour to defend their World Rugby Cup in France.

“We want them to know that, come what may, we are fully behind them all the way and we keep our fingers crossed they do well and make us proud but most importantly, that they bring the cup back to Mzansi where it belongs.

“Just two more hurdles and you are home and dry boys,” the players said in a group interview with Alex News during their practice sessions at the KwaBhekilanga Sports Ground.
