A Top Dogz pack member for life

Top Dogz leading goal scorer Lwando Mcosana says he wants to remain a Top Dogz pack member for life and to mentor youngsters in the team.

Gomtown Boyz ace goal poacher Lwando Mcosana has vowed to continue banging in the goals for his ‘Top Dogz’ side.

This will be the team’s maiden season in the Safa Johannesburg Men’s Regional League which kicks off in a month or so.

He was speaking to Alex News soon after his side was crowned winner of the Alexandra Northrand Local Football Association Promotional League for the 2022/23 season in which he scored 30 goals. He was second to the top goal scorer, Gabriel ‘Beast’ Madu of Amajananda FC who fired in 44.

The Beast has since signed with fellow Alex and regional league side JBM FC. Amajananda came second in the recently concluded Alex promotional league and was also promoted to the regional league after a spot was made available by the Safa Joburg Region which runs the league.

“I am already in the ‘afternoon’ of my football career and I see no need to seek greener pastures. I will stick it to the finish as a Top Dogz pack member and continue to bang in the goals and also mentor the youngsters in the team,” said Mcosana, who has 53 goals overall for his side.

Mcosana turns 30 on September 25, and he admits that age is no longer on his side. “Even if I get lucrative offers, I am not going to leave Gomtown Boyz as I have made it my home. I would love to bang in the goals and see the team climb up the promotional rungs of football.”

Of Beast, Mcosana said, “I worked so well with the Beast as if we were team members. He would push me to score more goals in order to catch up with him and take it to the wire.

“He was such an amazing and selfless person who never wanted to be the only one scoring goals but wanted both of us to compete and enjoy the beautiful game of football together.”
