Some Rays of Hope for vulnerable children

Old Mutual has given some Rays of Hope to many vulnerable children of Alexandra when it revitalised their playground and manned a soup kitchen for the day at the Lupin Street premises in Marlboro on Mandela Day.

The revamping of the playground at the headquarters of NPO Rays of Hope in Marlboro through the painting of new murals that included the Big Five tourist attraction wildlife was not only focussed on the children but also included the sprucing up of the administrative offices of the NPO and the planting of trees and a veggie garden.

Old Mutual’s Mass and Foundation Cluster (MFC) stakeholder relations executive Boipelo Nkadimeng said this year’s Mandela Month [July] will see employees of Old Mutual taking time off from their busy work schedule to help restore hope and confidence in communities within the company’s business footprint.

“We have given a new lease on life to the administrative offices and the children’s playground, spruced up the vegetable garden, and donated a cheque of R12 000.

“This sum of money will take care of the psychosocial support of children and families and the learning and development for a year as the NPO endeavours to break the victim cycle and restore values and the dignity and worth of all residents of Alexandra,” Nkadimeng told Alex News in an interview.

Nkadimeng added that the principal motto of Old Mutual is that ‘we are not okay until all of us are okay’ and the company will continue to do what it can towards making all of us okay.
