IFP Youth Brigade in Alexandra visits party veterans to wrap up Youth Month
Members of Inkatha Freedom Party Youth Brigade (IFPYB) in Alexandra visit veterans of the party in order to learn leadership skills and they also showered them with gifts for their role in uniting the party.
In their quest to find solutions to problems faced by the youth of today, members of the Inkatha Freedom Party Youth Brigade (IFPYB) in Alexandra recently visited veterans of the party in order to learn leadership skills.
The veterans were also showered with gifts as a token of appreciation for their role in uniting the party and building the Alexandra community.
IFPYB deputy chairperson in Gauteng, Ziyanda Zwane who was accompanied by ward 75 youth leadership in the City of Johannesburg said the aim of the visit was to thank their veterans for the role they played in building the community of Alexandra.
“As part of this year’s youth month commemoration, the IFPYB in Alexandra decided to visit our veterans in order to thank them for the role they played in uniting the community and building a strong foundation for the party. We also wanted them to share their leadership skills and lessons that can be used to solve problems faced by the youth of today.
“The IFPYB believes that senior leaders can play a critical role in shaping our society and help mentor young leaders. Young people in South Africa especially those from disadvantaged communities such as Alexandra are facing many challenges. We hope that through the lessons learned from this event, we will find solutions to help in problems faced by the youth of today,” Zwane said.
One of the veterans who were visited, Ernest Langa said youth leaders of today have a daunting task to help their peers who are facing countless social challenges.
“The youth of today is facing different problems to those of 1976. Ours was to achieve political freedom from the apartheid regime. Today’s youth have the privilege of choosing between many opportunities to better their lives. They must use these opportunities to free themselves from poverty.”
Langa urged young people to distance themselves from criminal activities, drugs and substance abuse in order to achieve their dreams and secure a better future.
