MaVilakazi, a rising star is set to host upcoming artists awards

Nompumelelo Vilakazi famously known as "MaVilakazi" is honoured to host the upcoming artists' awards as this will be a dream come true.

Born with an innate passion for the arts, MaVilakazi formally known as Nompumelelo Constancies Vilakazi has honed her dance and music skills over the years, with a hope to leave a permanent mark on the artistic landscape.

Vilakazi is a dancer, singer, student and businesswoman who grew up in Alexandra, a community she says taught her a lot about Ubuntu. She lives with her mother and siblings.

“I have been doing music from a very young age. I did dramatic arts in high school and that made it much easier to fall in love with music, now I am a Bacardi queen and piano” said Vilakazi.

With her unique style that blends innovation, emotion, and technical prowess, Vilakazi has captivated audiences and critics alike, earning widespread recognition as a rising star that she now will host the upcoming artist music awards.

“Having to be given such a great opportunity means the world to me because I never thought I had great power to do something like this. I always knew I had power and strength as short as I am, but this opportunity stands out.

“I was always watching BET, MTV awards and many more music with the sense and taste of culture I thought it would be great fun to host the 2023 upcoming artist awards. I always wished to host and share my knowledge with the community especially with artists that are still finding their way up. I want to make it easy for upcoming artists to be motivated and inspired that they can also do it, so this will benefit the community as a whole,” Vilakazi said.

Vilakazi looks up to singers like Brenda Fassie, Lebo Mathosa, Kamo Mphela, and Mawhoo but says she mostly draws inspiration from herself and the people around her. ‘In most cases, I always say it’s always good to look up to people but never wish to be them because you don’t know what they really go through.”

“My music inspires me, having to stand by the mic and going till I know all is well is what makes me happy. I love listening to my music because it evokes creativity within me and I also get inspired by my mom because I know she deserves the best because she is a fighter and a hard worker, that’s why my family and love for music inspires me more,” Vilakazi said.
