JAG calls for creatives for its Winter School programme

The Johannesburg Art Gallery (JAG) is calling for participants in next week's Winter School programme for aspiring and current creative practitioners.

The Johannesburg Art Gallery (Jag) is calling on current and aspiring creative practitioners to attend the Jag Winter School for 2023.
This year’s programme is dedicated to the work and continuing impact of legendary artist, curator, educator, administrator, and institution-builder Bongiwe Dhlomo-Mautloa for her notable contribution to the South African arts sector.

The school brings together a group of scholars and curators to celebrate Mam Bongi’s impact. The programme will afford her time to share her expertise for the first half of the winter school with participants of the programme and she will be in dialogue with artist and curator Melissa Goba.

The programme starts on June 19 to 20 (10:00– 15:30) and is intended to encourage critical engagement through history, politics and decolonial practices. The current winter school is intended to build the resources that can later be used to host a fully-fledged symposium dedicated to Mam Bongi, who is the recipient of the National Order of IKhamanga in silver.
