Bovet learners in Alexandra receive pencil bags

The Pick n Pay outlet at Alex Mall handed more than 400 pencil bags to learners at Bovet Primary School in Alexandra as part of a nationwide donation made by the Pick n Pay School Club.

The Pick n Pay School Club donated more than 400 branded pencil bags to Grade 4 learners at Bovet Primary School in Alexandra and they were also encouraged to have a positive attitude towards recycling.

The handover was made on March 29 by the staff of the Pick n Pay outlet at Alex Mall which was part of a project to donate these essential school items to more than 35 000 primary school learners across the country.

The pencil bags are made entirely from recycled plastic water bottles.

“The annual initiative by the club aims to educate future generations on the importance of sustainability while having an immediate positive environmental impact,” Alex Mall store manager Don Dube told learners.

Dube told Alex News that since the initiative launched in 2021, more than 100 000 learners have received one of the school accessories.

“It is so important we support the school’s curriculum with activations such as this as it helps communicate important lessons to learners in a fun and interactive way,” Dube said.
