Appeal for assistance in career guidance project for Alex learners

An Alex lad has a dream of running career guidance programmes for Alex learners and needs a decent space to able to realise his dream.

An Alex project known as Mokoa Dynamic Learning based in 8th Avenue is appealing to the corporate world to help it realise its dream.

The project has hopes of running career guidance programmes for township school learners as a way of extracting them from the poverty trap.
Edward Mokoa (28), who formalised his company in June last year, had been running career programmes for children for some time at the Yaeesh Centre in Morningside which had since closed as the owner returned to his native Asia.

At the centre, Mokoa used to also run tutoring services, motivation programmes and career guidance for children to enable them to choose the right subjects when they reach grades 9 and 10.

Among the tutoring services, Mokoa provided the learners included extra lessons in English, maths and religious studies. “I would like to now focus on the township children starting from Grade 6 and upwards till high school as my contribution towards getting them out of the poverty trap of the township.

“One other area of motivation that I would like to pay special emphasis on is the tendency of learners to mix school work with drug abuse, bunking classes etc. I need to be able to find a stable place where I can conduct the life-changing programmes for the children,” Mokoa said in an interview with Alex News.
