It is believed Thando’s murder resulted from a road-rage incident when the accused and the boys exchanged words over a nasty driving incident and the accused is alleged to have pulled out a gun.

When the boys realised, he was armed, they jumped out of the car they were travelling in and ran away while the accused apparently gave chase and caught up with Thando and allegedly shot him in the back of the head. The victim died on the spot.
