Gauteng Tourism Authority excited at addition of Music and Lifestyle Expo to Joy of Jazz festival

Gauteng Tourism Authority CEO Sthe Dlamini says jazz forms part of the soul and social fabric of the destination Gauteng story and the addition of a Music and Lifestyle Experience (Expo) to the Joy of Jazz festival augers well for their marketing strategy.

The Gauteng Tourism Authority (GTA), the official destination marketing agency for the Gauteng City Region, has ‘unreservedly expressed its delight’ at the return of the Joy of Jazz festival.

Speaking at the launch of the Joy of Jazz, GTA CEO Sthe Dlamini said what makes them even more excited is the latest innovation that will inaugurate the addition of a Music and Lifestyle Experience Expo to run alongside this premier musical offering known as the Joy of Jazz.

The expo is expected to attract more than 3 000 visitors and well over 100 exhibitors and will be open to both concert and non-concertgoers and will be a highlight of the festival’s focus on economic recovery and development following the meltdown of the past two years of the Covid-19 global pandemic.

According to the MD of Synergy Business Events Tiisetso Tau, the collaboration with T-Musicman and other partners on the expo seeks to address the creation of a platform where brands and businesses that form part of the music and lifestyle business value chain can showcase their offerings.

“This will also create a networking environment for the aforementioned businesses among themselves and with corporate South Africa, SMMEs and government to explore, discuss and unlock opportunities as well as look at ways to disrupt how Joy of Jazz Music and Lifestyle Experience is delivered to concertgoers,” Tau said.

Dlamini added, “We are unreservedly elated as the GTA because this authentic jazz experience event is back on our signature events calendar adding the much-needed energy, zeal and enhanced reasons to explore our golden city region more.

“Jazz forms part of the soul and social fabric of the destination Gauteng story and the Joy of Jazz has been our magical transmission channel and stage for this important heritage and offers.

“We are looking forward to the hosting of this event as we use events to drive increased visitation and the building of a solid events sector that creates new jobs and sustains existing ones.”

The 2022 Joy of Jazz focus on economic recovery is made possible by the industry stewardship of the T-Musicman team, executive producer Peter Tladi and its partners, which include the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, Gauteng Tourism, the South African Music Performance Rights Association (Sampra), MNS Attorneys, Southern Sun, and Radio 702.
