Alex residents demand CPF offices to shut down

Community patrollers and members demand the CPF offices shutdown since they claim the forum is ineffective.

Angry residents gathered at Alexandra Police Station on April 26 demanding that their elected Community Police Forum (CPF) close their offices claiming the forum was ineffective.

Some of the residents are members of the ‘community patrol’, a small group of patrollers that was formed to further protect the community. The group demanded that Brigadier Lindiwe Magudulela shut down the CPF offices at the station immediately. This decision was made at a meeting organised by the patrollers held at San Kopana earlier this morning [April 26] to engage with the community, police and CPF, about police visibility in the community.

Magudulela asked to be given time and have a meeting with the CPF to discuss the issues that were raised by the community and patrollers before she hands over the keys to the office to them.
