Planned power interruption and road closure to affect Alexandra

Residents of Alexandra are advised to prepare for a scheduled power outage and road closure on September 26, as City Power undertakes essential maintenance work.

City Power has informed residents of a scheduled power interruption and associated road closure which will take place on September 26 starting at 07:00 and lasting until 18:00, or until the maintenance work is completed.

City Power spokesperson Isaac Mangena said the interruption is necessary to decommission a defective High Mast located at 45 17th Avenue, Alexandra.

Mangena emphasised the importance of this maintenance project, stating that it will enhance the reliability of electricity services in the area.

“During the outage, residents are urged to prepare by ensuring that they treat their electricity supply points as live at all times. The power may be restored before the scheduled time and customers are advised to exercise caution during this period.

“City Power acknowledges the inconvenience that these interruptions may cause and appreciates the public’s understanding as they work to improve infrastructure,” Mangena said.
