Makhafola said, “I am excited to be part of this event, and as a professional nurse, together with the directors from the department, we did the patient consultations.

“With all the activities we had, we wanted to show our black people that we are with them. We are also celebrating Mandela, the struggle icon, because he has been through trials and tribulations, so we want his legacy to go on, and the new generation to know who Mandela was,” Makhafola said.

Makhafola added that they have come together to make a difference in the lives of their residents and are proud to see so many smiling faces.

COJ social development social benefit unit Xolani Mpelane said, “I am proud to have been part of [the] 67 minutes clean-up campaign around the clinic, because that means patients will breathe healthy and fresh air, and I wish we could have more of these clean-ups.”

One of the participants Maria Magwaza praised the efforts of the MMC and the clinic’s staff.

“I came for the aerobics session and ended up receiving a health check-up and some valuable advice from the nurses. It’s heart-warming to see our clinic going above and beyond to serve our community,” she said.
