Ward 76 revives Lindiwe Radebe’s home

In the aftermath of a devastating fire, the MK Party's Ward 76 members extend a helping hand breathing life into the charred remains of Lindiwe Radebe’s home.

The MK Party in Ward 76 has shown its commitment to serving the people of Alexandra by taking the initiative to renovate the home of resident Lindiwe Radebe.
Radebe’s flat was severely damaged in a fire that broke out, allegedly due to load-shedding last month.

Members of the party visited the Radebe family on July 15 and MK Ward 76 convener Nthabiseng Ratsela said, “We got a notification that a flat [was damaged in a fire] in our surroundings. We visited the Radebe family and when we got there the situation was bad, hence we decided to renovate and help where we could.

“At first, we came with clothes and blankets to keep them warm in this cold weather. Then we went around asking for donations to buy windows and paint. And we will continue asking for donations to get other things for the family and restore their dignity.”

MK zonal youth fundraiser Xolile Kubeka said they found out that Radebe had not been assisted because of her history of being a drug addict.

“We are trying to bring back the culture that a person deserves a second chance in life no matter the kind of life that they live. I believe ‘I am who I am because of who we are’ and that charity begins at home.

“We are committed to serving our people and making a difference in their lives. The Radebe family has been through a lot and we wanted to show them we care. We will continue to work to ensure our community is safe and happy,” Kubeka said.

Radebe expressed her gratitude to the party for their kindness.

“Emotions overwhelm me when people come together to help me rebuild my home. It’s not just about the physical structure but about the sense of security and belonging it gives us.

“I am grateful for the party’s support and thank them for their kindness. We are still trying to process everything that happened but knowing some people care about us makes it easier,” Radebe said.
