Masiphephe Network calls for cooperation in Alex gender violence fight

Organisations under the Masiphephe Network held a quarterly meeting to discuss the urgent need for increased collaboration among the organisations to tackle GBV, femicide, and children's cases.

Stakeholders from different organisations under Masiphephe Network recently held a quarterly meeting, a platform for stakeholders to address their challenges and explore ways to improve their efforts in tackling GBV, femicide and children’s cases.

One of the key themes that emerged from the discussion was the need for increased collaboration and shared resources, particularly among organisations with limited funding.

Masiphephe COO Gogo Brenda Selibi said, “We are different organisations – some are funded and some are not – that is why it is important to strengthen each other as organisations under the same network [Masiphephe Network] so that we could respond to the community.”

“As service providers, we need to come to the forefront when it comes to participating, not just participating but actively participating in meetings or things that need to be done to tackle the issues of GBV, femicide and Children’s cases. We need to meet each other halfway so that there will be peace in our communities.”

Be Free director Bongi Moleke urged the stakeholders to put aside their differences and focus on collaboration.

“We are competing instead of collaborating. As stakeholders, we tend to undermine each other. Platforms like these [Masiphephe Network] are meant for us to collaborate and network which means helping and strengthening each other should be our priorities.”
