“Because of the power outages that we have been facing, we thought we should spread some love and warmth to the vulnerable members of our community. Starting with the elderly, children and those who are disenfranchised,” Ruele said.
The menu featured a variety of delicious dishes including biryani, pumpkin, dhal and soup. Ruele said they also handed out bread, and more than 80 blankets to the elderly.
Ruele said the soup drive was also part of Phuthaditjaba’s ongoing efforts to provide Meals on Wheels services to community members who cannot leave their homes.

“We are proud that we were able to make a difference in our community. This initiative is a testament to the community’s power to support one another. We are looking forward to continue positively impacting the lives of those around us.”
