Alex’s promotional league end is hamstrung by DC cases

Verdicts on two DC cases that may impact the league standings will be delivered on June 26 and could pave the way to the completion of the league this weekend.

The completion of the Alexandra Northrand Local Football Association’s (LFA) Promotional League has been hamstrung by several cases that still need to come before the Disciplinary Committee (DC) of the LFA.
LFA secretary general Malvin Khumalo said they had four cases that needed to come before the DC, two of which affect the results of games and would impact the log standings.

The cases involved an abandoned match between Loyo Stars and Alex Royal Tigers SC and Tigers versus Akeric Football Institution. Tigers were accused of fielding an improperly registered player, and the cases were heard on June 22 and 23 with the verdicts expected on June 26.
Khumalo said the two that were yet to be heard involved Loyo Stars coach Raymond Khuzwayo who allegedly assaulted the referee in the match against Happy Fighters while the other involved Banele Sangcozi of Tigers who was said to have insulted the referees in the game with Gauteng FC.
Khumalo said the two outstanding cases did not affect the results and log standings, hence they could heard well after the completion of the league. “We scheduled those cases that have a bearing on the final log standings so we can ensure the smooth completion of the league season.”

On the issue of the walkovers in which one of the teams is said to have accumulated three of them which warrants expulsion from the league, Khumalo said the team in question had appealed one walkover because both teams were present and ready to play on the day. However, one did not have its player cards with it while the other did not have their kit on the day.
“We are looking at factors to see if they have a valid case to appeal.”
A football fundi believes this case was more of an abandonment of the match than a walkover.
