Team manager Robert Langa said, “Even though we are training players to become professionals, we know that some won’t make it to play for the big teams. I then decided to skill them to utilise their hands for farming.”

Langa said this project would bring financial stability to the team as they would sell the products they have grown.

“This project is also aimed at fighting poverty by encouraging others from the township to use the small spaces they have to grow their vegetables so that they will not rely on food parcels or vegetables from the City of Johannesburg.”

Team players expressed their enthusiasm for the new farming project initiated by their manager. Team captain Tshepiso Malete said, “We are truly excited about this opportunity. It will not help us financially only, but it will also teach us valuable life skills and bring us closer as a team.
