Still no clues on Alex businessman Mpho Motsumi’s killers

Gauteng SAPS spokesperson Brigadier Brenda Muridili says there has been no update on the murder of Galxcoc president and Alex businessman Mpho Stanley Motsumi.

Almost two months since the fatal shooting of Alex Mall founding co-shareholder Mpho Stanley Motsumi on February 28, and the police are nowhere near catching the assailants.

Motsumi (60) and his unnamed bodyguard were killed in a hail of bullets in the East Bank section of the township by unknown men driving a Toyota Quantum. Gauteng SAPS spokesperson Brigadier Brenda Muridili said they still do not have any positive clues in their search for the killers.

Asked for progress made in tracking down the killers, Muridili said there has been no update on the case so far. On the possibility of the SAPS considering the posting of a bounty on the head of the killers, she was non-committal as she did not reply to that question.

At the time of his death, Motsumi had been the president of the Greater Alexandra Chamber of Commerce (Galxcoc) for many years and ran numerous projects to assist aspiring business people in the township and focussed mainly on the unemployed youth with the drafting of business plans, business incubation sessions and free use of the chamber’s Wi-Fi facilities to seek funding and other business- related matters.
