World Aids Day observed at 4th Avenue Clinic in Alex

World Aids Day was commemorated at the 4th Avenue Clinic in Alexandra on December 1 with messages that urge the community never to let their guard down.

The 4th Avenue Clinic in Alexandra marked World Aids Day with some reinforcement messages to encourage the community to stay alert and never let their guard down when it comes to this dreaded disease.

The clinic’s professional nurse, Cynthia Ali said the day was being commemorated to remember those who perished as a result of Aids. “We encourage the community to test for HIV/Aids more frequently and each time you come to visit the clinic, we will test you so that know your status.”

Health promoter Ntswaki Mogadima took the community down the rigmarole of how they can contract the HIV that leads to Aids and the many ways of avoiding contracting the virus, saying it was not only transmittable through unprotected sex but also by touching contaminated blood.
