Sassa calls on social grant recipients to collect new cards at their nearest post office

Sassa is issuing new gold cards to grant recipients as of this month and urges recipients to ensure they go to collect new ones from the post office.

As of March 13, the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) started issuing new cards and is urging all social grant recipients whose gold cards expire in March, to go to their nearest post office to receive new ones.

Sassa emphasised that only those whose cards are expiring in March are eligible to collect the gold cards. March 13 and 14 will be dedicated to the distribution of the cards to old-age grant recipients and those that receive disability grants.

Those who receive child-support grants, including all other grants, will collect theirs as of March 15 up until March 18 and recipients are urged to bring along the following to the post office to collect their new Sassa cards:

• A South African identity document and
• The current Sassa/Postbank gold card that is expiring in March 2023.

The post office staff will assist the recipients to activate the new cards, select a new PIN, and the cards will operate immediately to make withdrawals or any other type of transactions.
Sassa will communicate and publish another announcement regarding those whose cards will expire in further months to come, a statement said.
