The Phoenix Alexandra needs your help

NPO The Phoenix Alexandra is appealing to corporates to come to its financial rescue so it can fulfil its mandate of charitable work within the community of Alexandra.

The Phoenix Alexandra is a non-profit organisation that has issued a Christmas wish list so corporates can help it fulfill its charity work within the community of Alexandra.

Founder and CEO Emily Mabasa, who described her organisation as an advocate for an inclusive and secure society for youth through arts and culture, has the desire to start its skills development and training programme for the youth and can only do so with the assistance and support from South Africa’s business fraternity.

The Phoenix is currently involved in youth activities that include dancing, singing, drama, modelling, a reading club, chess club, spelling bee and poetry. The children in these activities lack the necessary support and infrastructure required to enhance their quality of life.

While The Pheonix Alexandra is currently empowering them through the arts to be responsible, accountable, and respectable citizens and future leaders of South Africa, the organisation lacks the financial muscle to realise its dream.

“This is a challenge that no single entity can handle on its own, therefore requires co-operation from all spheres of society to address in a collective manner and hence we appeal that as you do your shopping for Christmas that you put us in the to-do list as a beneficiary of your kindness,” Mabasa said.

“Part of the things we request your material support for are in the form of blankets, puzzles, reading books, clothes, food, sanitary pads, board games and school materials,” she added.
