Rough Inside releases a single in October

Alex's young artists rise above all the trials and tribulations in their music journey.

Rough Inside duo Kamogelo Mqhayi (Kairo) and Aphiwe Mankayi (Logo) are set to release their debut single in October after being in the music industry for 10 years.

“We started music in 2012. Then, we were a group of eight rappers named Ghetto Boys and along the way, the other six members quit music and we were left together,” Kairo said.

“The journey together has been fantastic, we have managed to conquer every obstacle together. For instance, when we were still a group we would drink alcohol at every gig and we easily influenced each other. I must say, Rough Inside has gotten us off the streets and alcohol too.”

Logo said one of the obstacles they conquered together was when he had a court case that went on for two years and they had to stop doing music and focus on the case. “I found myself having to face the hands of the law when my then girlfriend accused me of rape after a night of being drunk back in 2018. We attended the case until 2020 when she decided to drop the charges.

Kairo and Logo, the duo named Rough Inside.

“That was the main challenge for our career as we had to take all the money we had earned and pay the legal fees. It also took a strain on us because we were no longer releasing any music.”.

The duo said they were probably put together by God because they were both from disadvantaged backgrounds and raised by single mothers who meant the world to them. “Making it in the music industry will mean a lot for us because we are doing it for our mothers who are our heroines,” Kairo continued.

“We are releasing our first single on October 7, it is called Beke le Beke which means week in, week out, and Antic is a brand we are promoting so in all it means week in, week out rock your Antic brand.

“We would like to thank everyone we have worked with, Turn up Beats who did the beats for our song and Master Kind who has featured in the song, and the Antic brand for choosing us as their brand ambassadors.”

Logo urged the youth of Alex, especially boys, to stay away from drugs and alcohol to avoid being in the same situation he found himself in.
