The Alex Arts Academy will host a high-powered workshop aimed at the development of young and youthful creatives, and to teach them how to pen down their own stories and content.

Head of education at the academy Masiza Mbali told Alex News that the workshop will include powerful speakers in the creative arts space such as Dr Nokuthula Mazibuko-Msimang, Thando Pato, Lindiwe Ramokgadi, Niq Mhlongo, Melusi Tshabalala, and Lerato Trok.
Themed ‘Women’s Month Celebration: A Shared Story’, Mbali said some of the sessions will include Interactive Storytelling with Mazibuko-Msimang and Trok; Intergeneration – Our Stories, Our Voices with Pato and Ramokgadi; Boys to Men with Mhlongo and Tshabalala. The only afternoon session will be hosted by Mazibuko-Msimang and Pato and will feature Writing Women by Women.
The more than 50 attendees will mainly be children and youth already in sessions and projects of the academy but they hope to host another 20 interested participants from the community in this cost-free event.
“We want to inculcate the culture of reading and writing and telling stories in our children at an early age so they grow up with this habit and passion, as they are our future creatives,” Mbali added.
