R25 000 dough taken in bread truck delivery

Two unknown suspects looted a bakery truck while holding the drivers hostage.

A bakery truck driver and his assistant were hijacked at the corner of 20th Avenue and Josias Madzunya Street while delivering bread to local shops.

The two men dropped their delivery at the shop and the shop owner paid them R250. As they exited the shop on their way to the truck, they were approached by two armed men who allegedly forced them inside the car.

“The complainant said the perpetrators then locked them in the back of the truck and drove to an unspecified address where they tried opening the safe [of the truck], and after a lot of trial and error, they successfully opened it and handed over the [vehicle’s] keys to the victims and left,” Alexandra Police Station Commander Brigadier Lindiwe Magudulela told Alex News.

She said R25 000 was taken by the suspects who were still at large.
