Angels’ mercy falls on Alex siblings in dire need

A good Samaritan called Jacaranda FM's Good Morning Angels to assist Mbali Simons and her brother.

Angels have looked down on a young woman from Alexandra who looks after her partially disabled brother from her meagre income as a call centre operator.

Mbali Simons (26) and her brother Vusi have received assistance from Jacaranda FM’s Good Morning Angels in the form of AngelRands to the tune of R10 000 to help the siblings to buy much-needed groceries and food items.

The siblings’ mother died of HIV Aids when Mbali was still young and Vusi was also infected with the disease from his mom. To make matters worse, a few years ago Vusi suffered a stroke and is now partially disabled and was not able to finish school and is also unable to work.

Recently, Vusi started having epileptic seizures and his health is said to be deteriorating by the day.

Mbali told the hosts of the morning show that her role of caregiver had turned into a nightmare for her as she tried to make ends meet on her meagre salary. “Looking after my sick brother and his medical needs have put a huge strain on my small income.”

A good Samaritan, Alison Richardson, a listener of the radio station’s breakfast show who has known Mbali since she was in school, was touched by her plight and had reached out to the Good Morning Angels show.

“This little family is desperately in need of help and I know that your Good Morning Angels show could make such a difference in the lives of these two young people,” Richardson said in her motivation.
