Suspects hold victims hostage as they empty house of electrical gadgets

Everyone in the house was tied up with cables, reported the victim of a robbery.

A man and his friends were held at gunpoint while the perpetrators of a house robbery took their valuables.

Alexandra Police Station Commander Brigadier Lindiwe Magudulela said the victim was watching a movie with his friends when he went out to buy a cigarette and on his return forgot to lock the door.

A few minutes later, they heard the dog bark and the door was opened and an unknown man with a silver handgun entered and aimed it at them.

He was followed by two other unknown individuals, one of whom was armed with a large knife concealed in a pouch.

The complainant said he tried to escape but failed and then screamed for help and a neighbour came to check. The armed suspect fired a shot and ordered the neighbour to get inside the house. The victims were all searched for money and then were tied up with cables, Magudulela said.

Before fleeing, Magudulela said the suspects took an LG sound bar worth R1 700, a Huawei P8 lite worth R3 000, an LCD monitor screen worth R1 000, an HP CPU computer worth R1 500, and a Tempo stainless steel watch worth R700.
