Seanego accuses Molepo of ‘rough tackles’

Seanego says he doesn’t thrive on blackmailing people and his focus now was on getting everybody to work together.

The dust has barely settled and sparks are already flying high following the Alexandra Northrand Local Football Association (LFA) elections.

The latest spark is an accusation from former chairperson Maisha Molepo who accused the newly elected chairperson Joe Seanego of leaking a document to the media which makes damning accusations against Molepo.

Some of the accusations include alleged ‘ghost’ payments to leaders of the LFA who have long passed on and that Molepo contracted his wife to cater for all functions of the LFA without going through a transparent tender process.

Molepo sent a WhatsApp message to Alex News accusing Seanego of leaking the document to the media and said he was not prepared to comment any further as the matter was sub judice and referred the newspaper to LFA secretary-general Malvin Khumalo.

Khumalo said the LFA had made some enquiries to the media house concerned but they refused to divulge their source, saying they had a right to protect the person who gave the information.

“I am not sure where Maisha got the information that it was Joe who leaked the document, which as far as we are concerned, is still a mystery,” Khumalo told Alex News.

During an interview with Alex News, Seanego was confronted with these allegations and denied any involvement in the leaking of the document. “I have not leaked any document to anyone,” he claimed.

“I consider those latest accusations against me as yet another rough tackle coming from the former chairperson. I don’t thrive on blackmailing people and my focus now is on how we can all work together harmoniously as a football family.”

Seanego claimed soon after he was declared the winner on March 27, people started making claims that ‘I don’t live in the area of jurisdiction of the LFA’. “My residential home is in Orange Grove and as far as I know that suburb is in the Northrand area.”
