No need to stand in long queues for grants

Grants are available from this month for all customers who have already registered online or at the Post Office and in-store registrations are not available.

Alexandrians that benefit from the Covid-19 relief grants have no reason to join long queues as they can now access their funds at any Shoprite, Checkers and Usave till points.

The two participating stores in Alex are the Shoprite store in the Alex Plaza Shopping Centre and the Usave store, corner 8th Avenue and Vincent Tshabalala Road, which are part of its 1 286 supermarkets across the country that supply the service.

The service is also available at selected OK Foods supermarkets nationally. This enables customers to receive their grants and at the same time buy the much-needed essentials and also pay their bills in a single location.

To collect their grants, customers simply need to produce their ID and provide their cellphone numbers as well. The Shoprite group stressed that it must be the same cellphone number with which they registered on the Sassa database, as a confirmation OTP will be sent to this number to prevent fraud.

Grants are available from this month for all customers who have already registered online or at the Post Office. In-store registrations are not available.
