No more pillar to post for Alex entrepreneurs

ALEXANDRA – All the services offered at the incubation hub will be accessed free of charge, says Baloyi.

The troubles of being sent from pillar to post for aspiring entrepreneurial minds in Alexandra could soon be a thing of the past.

This follows the launch of the-state-of-the-art Galxcoc Digital Incubation Hub which will be housed at the offices of the Greater Alexandra Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Galxcoc) on Arkwright Avenue in Wynberg, Alexandra.

The hub, which seeks to awake the entrepreneurial spirit of the township folk, will house all government agencies that deal, fund and facilitate a smooth establishment of businesses.

The housing of these agencies which include the GEP, Seda, Sars, Sefa, NEF, and CIPC, will end the injustice of sending people from pillar to post when they want to register businesses or their innovative business ideas and intellectual property.

“The housing of these entities under one roof, including the City of Johannesburg’s Department of Economic Development, will alleviate the misery of aspiring entrepreneurs from going from one department to the other and one agency to another and one area to another.

“This also includes people being sent from one city to another in order to comply with the registration processes for companies and intellectual properties. We want to end this frustrating habit by bringing all of these agencies under one roof and people can just hop from desk to desk,” said hub manager Patrick Mpho Baloyi in an interview with Alex News.

Baloyi said the hub would begin its operations at the end of April when a recruitment drive and selection process gets underway with a special focus on quality rather than quantity. “This process will see us taking 20 innovative business ideas under our arm in a year-long incubation and nurturing programme.”

All the services that will be offered at the incubation hub such as mentorships, use of office space, Wi-Fi, laptops, photocopying machines and telephone facilities etc can be accessed free of charge but people will have to book in advance to use the office space.
