‘A job well done’ for Sandringham SAPS

Sandringham Police Station Commander Colonel Sanet Williams applauds the officers for a job well done.

Members of the Sandringham Police Station have been applauded for a job well done after its members arrested three suspected hijackers in a shoot-out on April 4.

The shoot-out took place at about 22:00 in Lombardy East when patrolling officers spotted the suspects attempting to hijack a Haval motor vehicle at the Modderfontein Road on-ramp to the N3.

A shoot-out ensued between the police and the suspected hijackers, who are believed to have come from Alex. The police arrested the three suspects, two of whom were shot and injured during the shoot-out, and officers recovered a firearm.

The injured suspects were taken to hospital under police guard while the other suspect was detained at the station to answer to charges of attempted hijacking and being in possession of an unlicensed firearm.

Sandringham Police Station communications officer Warrant Officer Aaron Sankara Lebuso said the station commander, Colonel Sanet Williams, was chuffed by the quick-thinking officers which resulted in the arrest of the suspects.

“I would like to applaud the officers who affected the arrests for their quick thinking and arrest of the suspects. This is a job well done,” Williams said.
