Man dumped following hijacking

ALEX – The suspects took the complainant's R200 before taking his car.

A man was hijacked while driving his grey Renault Kwid with registration number JY14SNGP on the corner of Roosevelt Street and Springbok Crescent on February 26 at about 22:00 in East Bank.

According to Sergeant Simphiwe Mbatha, the spokesperson for Alexandra Police Station, a grey Toyota Yaris blocked the man’s car in the front. Two men got out of the car and pointed a firearm at him while forcefully removing him out of the car to the back seat and drove away with him.

“The complainant was searched by the suspects. They took his cellphone, a wallet with R200 and bank cards. They drove until Linbro Park and they dumped him next to a private hospital and drove off with the car,” said Mbatha.

The value of the car is R130 200. A hijacking is being investigated by the police and the man was not injured.
