Delivery man left stranded following hijacking in Alex

ALEX – The suspects are unknown and the complainant cannot identify them because they were wearing masks

Police detectives are investigating a hijacking and an armed robbery case after a delivery van was hijacked and robbed on February 9 in Alexandra.

According to the spokesperson for Alexandra Police Station Sergeant Simphiwe Mbatha, the complainant said he was delivering a parcel to a customer and while he was waiting for the customer, two unknown men pointed a firearm at him and demanded the car keys.

“One of the men who was not armed searched him and took his two cellphones. He also took the car keys before they drove off. The vehicle is worth R150 000 and has a tracker. The suspects are unknown and the complainant cannot identify them because they were wearing masks,” said Mbatha.

No one has been arrested but the investigation is ongoing.
