Man thrown in the back of a Quantum during hijacking

ALEX – They drove off with him and after a while, they left him at Jamina, Eldorado Park and drove off with the company vehicle.

A man was hijacked by two men who according to the complainant were driving a car that resembled a police vehicle on February 9.

According to the spokesperson for Alexandra Police StationSergeant Simphiwe Mbatha, the complainant said the incident happened at about 13:00 while he was driving along the N3 approaching the Marlboro on-ramp in a company vehicle, a white Quantum with registration number BY03MFGP.

“The complainant said that he was stopped by two motor vehicles that looked like police vehicles. One of the cars was a white sedan and the other was an open bakkie. The two men were dressed smartly. They approached him and immediately took the car keys and threw him into the back seat of the Quantum.

“They drove off with him and after a while, they left him at Jamina, Eldorado Park and drove off with the company vehicle. They also took the company cellphone which is worth R23 000 and the complainant’s wallet which had a driver’s licence, bank card and medical aid.

The complaint was then assisted by a young man who took him to Eldorado Police Station for assistance and then to later Alexandra SAPS.

The Quantum’s value is R300 000. The suspects are still at large. The complainant cannot recognise them because, in the vehicle, he was instructed to lie face down.

Mbatha added that the complainant did not know whether the vehicle had a tracker or not.
