Stray bullet kills man in Alex
ALEX – The man hit by a bullet was declared dead on the scene.
Alexandra police detectives received a complaint of a shooting that left a man dead on 9th Avenue in Alexandra on January 30.
This incident is said to have happened around 11:30am. According to Alexandra police spokesperson Sergeant Simphiwe Mbatha, when the police arrived at the scene, they found a body of a man on the ground with a gunshot wound.
“The police spoke to the sister of the man found on the ground and she told them that she was informed that her brother was shot by unknown boys who were chasing another boy and firing shots at that boy. Her brother was caught in the crossfire and was hit by a stray bullet,” explained Mbatha.
The man was declared dead on the scene.
No arrests have been made yet and an investigation is underway.
