Delivery vehicle robbed and hijacked in Alex

EAST BANK – The suspects took the victims' two cellphones and drove off with the company vehicle leaving them on the street.

Two delivery drivers were left without delivery parcels after they were robbed in East Bank on January 25.

Alexandra Police Station spokesperson Sergeant Simphiwe Mbatha said the two victims said they were driving a white Nissan NP200 bakkie with registration number KF17MJGP on Sparrow Street when three men stopped their vehicle, pointed a firearm at them and ordered them to get out of the vehicle.

The suspects took the victims’ two cellphones and drove off with the company vehicle leaving them on the street. The victims work for a well-known delivery company and said they were delivering parcels to their clients in Alexandra.

“The cellphones are worth R3 000 each and the value of the vehicle is around R120 000. The vehicle is insured and also fitted with a tracking device,” said Mbatha.

The suspects are still at large.
