Balfour Alexandra Football Club is looking for talented rough diamonds for its junior teams that it can polish and turn into the ‘Messis’ of this world.
Newly appointed chairperson of the club Georgia Brookstone told Alex News in an interview that as the new administration of the club run under the Highlands Park FC brand, they wanted to turn over a new leaf of prosperity and growth for the sake of the children.
Brookstone, daughter of Highlands boss Larry Brookstone, said the club was asking talented junior players to come and pick registrations forms from the club offices behind the Balfour Mall.
“We are looking for talented rough diamonds that we can polish and turn into the Messis of this world. We are looking for U6s up to U15s for the junior teams and then U13 to U19 for the Growth Development League, which is the competitive league of the club.
“The more players we have the more opportunities to create talented stars of the future and I appeal to players, even close to us in Alexandra, to come forward and join the club that seeks to venture into greater things under its new management.
“The new club season begins in March and we are already in full preparation to gear ourselves for the upcoming season by beefing up our various teams. We have even lowered our fees so we can attract more interested players.”
In order to do all this, Brookstone said the club needed sound financial backing; hence fundraising plans were already afoot.
“We are organising for a Golf Day sometime in March as a start for our fundraising drive and many more activities will follow.”
