Suspects assault man before taking his car
ALEX – One of the men pointed a firearm at him and demanded car keys.
Police detectives are investigating a hijacking case that took place on January 4 at about 11:40am in Sparrow Street in Alexandra.
According to police spokesperson Sergeant Simphiwe Mbatha, the complainant was using his Toyota Quest with registration number JF 05 JM GP as a taxi cab when he picked up three unknown men. One of the men pointed a firearm at him and demanded the car keys. The other men were said to have started assaulting him before pushing him out of the car and driving off.
“The complainant said he can identify the suspect that was seated on the passenger seat next to him. The suspects took his iidentity document, bank card and driver’s licence,” said Mbatha.
The motor vehicle had a tracker and has not been recovered yet.
