Thank you for the good wishes, says Maimane

ALEXANDRA – Maimane thanks hospital staff and South Africans for the outpouring of well-wishes he received.

Alex football legend and founder of the Maimane Alfred Phiri development games, better known as the Map Games, has been discharged from hospital and is currently recuperating at home.

Phiri, who runs his Map Games under his Maimane Alex Development Foundation, has expressed his gratitude for the outpouring of well-wishes he received from the people of Alexandra and the country at large after being shot in a shooting incident at his business outlet on 4th Avenue on December 30.

Though Phiri did not want to elaborate on the shooting incident as it was a matter under police investigation, he said he would just like to tell people he was injured during the incident which necessitated that he be operated on to remove two bullets from his body.

“I just want to take this opportunity to thank the loving people of South Africa, particularly those in Alexandra, for all the well wishes, prayers and support that you have shown me and my family over the past two weeks,” he added.

Lastly, but not least, Phiri said he would like to send a special thank you to the medical staff of Edenvale Hospital and Netcare Milpark for their ‘outstanding work’. “I am truly grateful.”
