Methodist women grateful for hospice

ALEXANDRA – We're not asking for anything from the Almighty today, but to say thank you to Him for the wonderful hospice He brought to us, says Olga Makeng.

The Omama Bo Manyano from the Town Region of the Methodist Church were taken on a whirlwind tour of the soon to be opened new premises of the Alex Hospice and Rehab Centre in the Far East Bank.

The roughly 60 women from the Town Region of the Methodist Church, who come from the six circuits of the Central Synod, visited the hospice as part of their outreach programme in various communities.

The six circuits under the Central Synod that converged on the hospice are Alexandra Joburg, South Rand, Joburg North, Central Methodist Mission, Joburg East, and Fourways, which came bearing gifts and groceries for the residents, some of whom are terminally ill patients.

Before the tour, the women, led by the coordinator of the Town Region Olga Makeng, conducted a prayer at the new premises in which Makeng described the attainment of the hospice as a ‘dream come true for founder Grace Marutlulle, who is also a member of Omama Bo Manyano.

“We’re not asking for anything from the Almighty today, but to say thank you to Him for the wonderful hospice He brought to us for his people in Alexandra. We also applaud Mam’uGrace for her vision and resilience which is now a dream come true for her.”

The outreach programme follows the loosening up of the harsh lockdown regulations which have allowed churches to resume worship and their ministry work that had been put on ice following the outbreak of Covid-19.
