Mashaba will not get into bed with ANC

Alex – He had come to the school to drum up support for his ‘big fish’

Leader of the new boys on the block, ActionSA’s Herman Mashaba told Alex News outside Ward 105 voting station KwaBhekilanga High School that he was ready to go into coalition politics but not with the ANC.

He had come to the school to drum up support for his ‘big fish’ Ward 105 councillor candidate Shadrack Mkhonto. However, Mkhonto was trounced in the polls by incumbent ANC councillor, Albert Tefo Raphandu.

Mashaba said, “I am not going to go to bed with the ANC but I am open for any other party and the independent candidates for that matter.”

He added he had unfinished business as mayor of the City and hoped to return to complete that business. “I am very confident the people of Johannesburg will give me that mandate to come back and fix our broken city which I so love. I want to return and put that golden shine back to Johannesburg which is choking under the ANC since my departure,” Mashaba claimed.

Mashaba said he was also ready to take a seat on the City’s backbenches and spearhead opposition politics if he was not approached to form a coalition. “I am ready to serve the people again if they choose my party. My work during my tenure as mayor speaks for itself.”

Meanwhile, Mkhonto had accepted being the ward’s PR councillor in the City for a third time. “There is nothing I can do as the people have spoken and what it means is that I must accept the outcome,” he said after the announcement of the final results.
